Hence Therefore returns with SECULAR HELLS - his fourth release for 3BS Records. This time we find Hence T fixated on the uncanny entities and attention-maximising algorithms of surveillance capitalism. Inspired by a year spent obsessing on the grim diagnoses of writers like Hito Steyerl, Zeynep Tufekci, Shoshana Zuboff and James Bridle, Secular Hells conveys a sense of hypermediated unease and exhausted reality-apathy.
Across these eight tracks, many of them recorded live, Hence Therefore keeps pushing forward his unique musical vocabulary: dub-inflected drum machine inventiveness and blown-out sonics, haunted by his own processed falsetto vocals. The result is an album that coheres somewhere between the outer edges of dancefloor functionality (see the twitchy club cut "Vile Offspring") and an expertly weird, live spontaneity. Moments of beauty and abandon arc above the dark and rising sea of dirty data, deepfakes and filter bubbles.
The artwork for the album is a still image from a video anonymously uploaded to Twitter, which seems to show a vast burnt-out crytocurrency mining farm.
Tracks from Secular Hells have already received support from LOFT, object blue, re:ni, Air Max '97, Alec Pace and tgmn, amongst others.

Influenced by producers J Dilla and Flying Lotus, Jaw Gems make loosely improvised songs that are equally vibrant and nomadic. Their new album is remarkably carefree, but they wanted it that way. Bandcamp Album of the Day Aug 30, 2016
